While “Law and Order Unindicted Co-conspirator” Trump rides his golf cart onto greens to putt and needs help to walk down a ramp, Biden bikes and drives a corvette…
Times has a sort of Venn diagram of pictures reflecting the people who got the most exposure at the conventions. Dems had a diverse crowd of smart young public servants. Reds have Trump kids.
Are you really going to pursue this tack, whether it has any connection to reality or not?
Mentally and physically, Joe Biden leaves Donald Trump in the dust.
This may be good though. It creates low expectations for the debate (and there will be a debate). At the debate, Joe laughs right in Orange Clown’s face.
Someone who fell asleep 20 years ago and awoke last night would have been in for a shock.
The second night of the Republican convention was a festival of massive lawbreaking.
In open violation of the Hatch Act, President Trump turned the White House into a convention stage.
He even held an immigration ceremony on camera, and had his secretary of State deliver a speech in explicit violation of State Department regulations.
The White House might as well have been surrounded by yellow police tape. Had Al Gore tried it in 2000, he might have spent the night in jail.
Instead, the blatant violation was met with resignation. “Nobody outside of the Beltway really cares,” sneers Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
There is a controlling legal authority — they just don’t care.
✁
The Trump administration has effectively turned the law into a dead letter, in following its basic principle that any law that lacks an effective and immediate enforcement mechanism essentially does not exist.
Trump has ignored the law for years, using his official events for campaigning, while previous presidents carefully avoided doing so, and even reimbursed the government for expenses incurred while traveling for campaign events.
After the Office of Special Counsel recommended firing Kellyanne Conway for Hatch Act violations last year, nothing happened.
“Some of Mr. Trump’s aides privately scoff at the Hatch Act and say they take pride in violating its regulations,” reported the New York Times last week.
✁
Laws like the Hatch Act and prohibitions on using private emails for official purposes are in a category of laws that effectively bind one party but not the other.
(Indeed, Trump’s administration is filled with private email users — nobody cares.)
I meant to say: Trump was completely asleep and missed it….

After trolling Republicans throughout their convention, the Biden campaign has pulled its final act of the week: acquiring the web domain KeepAmericaGreat.com.
When Trump launched his reelection campaign last year, he rolled out the “Keep America Great” as its official new slogan with great fanfare.
But the Biden campaign recently learned the web domain was available and snagged it.
The site now lays out a top-to-bottom rebuke to the Trump administration, including his handling of coronavirus. “Promises Made, Promises Kept Broken,” the site’s home page screams.
“Trump isn’t looking for a second term,” it charges. “He’s looking for a do-over.”
It still confuses me that conservatives are doubling down on ageism. They depend on the senior citizen vote. But the they attack someone only 3 years older than Trump for being old. Several republicans suggested that seniors, already being past their prime, should be willing to die from Covid for the sake of the economy. Older Republicans must really have some serious devotion to stick with a party that tells them their age makes them less valuable than other people. That loyalty is kind of impressive in a Stockholm syndrome kind of way.
Since my local paper carries this strip, I rarely go to the gocomics version unless I am curious about the comments. What struck me today was the preponderance of those from the blue side of the aisle, and only one that I have noticed so far from Trump’s so-called “base.” This reaffirms my opinion of Stantis as the type of conservative whom I wouldn’t mind having a beer with over Zoom, in contrast to his predecessor in my paper, the author of Mallard Fillmore, who responded to some pretty mild criticism by drawing Jon Stewart with a stereotypical big nose, for example. His over-the-top embracing of anti-Hunny-Bunny (and now Joe) memes is annoying, but it could be WAY worse. I think of Carmen as Scott’s alter ego, and she seems almost ready to announce her support for Biden. The reminds me of PJ O’Rourke’s “endorsement” of Clinton in 2016 on Wait Wait Don’t tell me: “ It’s the second-worst thing that can happen to this country, but she’s way behind in second place. She’s wrong about absolutely everything, but she’s wrong within normal parameters." As another panelist replied, “I’m Hillary Clinton, and…I’ll take it!”
It would be really interesting if someone could get someone in the Secret Service or one of Trump’s servants to substitute placebos in place of his industrial strength sudafeds.
John Adams aka Tom Pain calls Trump’s speech outstanding. Well, only in respect of it’s meandering gibberish, lack of any kind of plan, and outright lies.

So you don’t remember particulars? I wondered if you would, which is why I asked.
I responded to the concern over leftist lies that BOTH Social Security and Medicare were going away. They are not, it’s fear mongering from the left.
Perhaps some of the leftists here, using their usual leftist tactic of insults and accusations should figure out what they’re talking about, before posting. But leftists never let facts get in the way.
Humm. I see I didn’t get all of the particulars of ‘Old Guy’ probable troll account.

Classic leftist projection. A troll, insinuating that I am a troll. My my, you are confused, but then you are a leftist – and off topic – again.
When someone refers you to an exchange (about something) you had a week or so ago (he wasn’t sure) and that person uses a name to refer to the other person – don’t you think the name should be correct, or at least close? He wasn’t sure of anything. So yeah, that’s why I was testing the one challenging me yesterday – to see if they had a clue as to what they were talking about. Even you should realize that.

What a load of crap… it’s readily apparent that Biden has more vitality, better fitness and generally better health than Trump.
Trump has admitted he’s intimidated by Biden’s vigor; that’s why he’s floating this drug test at the debates joke.

Rather than give more oxygen to the Fake News of Biden being sleepy…
Talk about how the GOP is in no way the party of “Law and Order.”
~
On Tuesday night, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse allegedly shot three people in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with an AR-15-style rifle, killing two.
Videos of the event tell us an incomplete story of what, exactly, happened that night.
But they appear to clearly show this much: Rittenhouse traveled to the protests in illegal possession of an assault weapon to act as a vigilante.
He placed himself at the center of the violence, then escalated it by shooting a man in the head.
Minutes later, he shot two more people who appeared to be trying to disarm him, then fled across state lines.
For this bloody spree, prosecutors charged Rittenhouse with first-degree intentional homicide.
In short, a teenager obsessed with law enforcement decided to play the role of a cop and wound up, according to law enforcement, committing murder.
✁
It is almost dizzying to count all the ways Rittenhouse appears to have broken the law on Tuesday.
He allegedly twice drove across state lines carrying a firearm he was not legally permitted to possess.
He then illegally brandished this firearm in the streets.
He violated the Kenosha curfew that provided the basis for police to arrest protesters.
He fled out of state after shooting three people.
And, most obviously, he killed two protesters.
The footage indicates that two—and possibly all three—of Rittenhouse’s victims were trying to disarm him.
And yet, almost as soon as video of the shootings emerged, conservative media began to defend Rittenhouse.
✁Fox News guests asserted that Rittenhouse effected “vigilante justice” because he filled “a void” left by police.
