    Appropriate, too.

Today is when Trump expects more minions to help him overturn the election.

I look forward to Political Normalcy…

The GOP cries about “The Deficit!!!” should begin again in 3, 2, 1….

    ~

Winning a pair of January 5 Senate runoffs in Georgia, Democrats have regained control of the US Senate, but just barely.

By capturing Georgia’s Senate seats — an impressive feat few political observers thought likely after the November election — Democrats have given themselves the barest of Senate majorities. They are technically split 50-50 with Republicans, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris serving as the tie-breaker for simple majority votes. Importantly, though, it will be Democrat Chuck Schumer, not Republican Mitch McConnell, who will hold the title of majority leader.

Tuesday’s victory solidifies the party’s control of Congress as President-elect Joe Biden prepares to take office with an ambitious policy agenda. It guarantees Democrats will at least be able to decide what bills make it to the Senate floor, as well as be able to more easily confirm Biden’s Cabinet appointments and judicial nominees.

On Sunday, however, Rep. Chip Roy—Cruz’s no-less-conservative former chief of staff—forced House Republicans who would dispute the election results to put the insincerity of their claims on the record.

As the new Congress gathered for its first day, Roy objected to the seating of 67 House members, representing Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Those are the states carried by Joe Biden whose electors Trump-y members of the House would try to block.

Roy’s explanation was ruthlessly logical: Trump’s defenders plan to object to the electors “due to their deeply held belief that those states conducted elections plagued by statewide, systemic fraud and abuse that leaves them absolutely no way for this chamber or our constituents to trust the validity of their elections.”

But the 67 members of the House from the states would claim their own seats based on the results of those very same elections.

“Such allegations,” he wrote, “if true, raise significant doubts about the elections of at least some of the members of the United States House of Representatives that, if not formally addressed, could cast a dark cloud of suspicion over the validity of this body for the duration of the 117th Congress.”

Nevertheless, in the first roll-call vote of the 117th Congress following the election of the speaker, the House—including the would-be Trump dead-enders—voted almost unanimously to endorse the election results and swear those members in.

Trump waited until the final weeks of his presidency to deliver congressional Republicans one of his most debasing loyalty tests: demanding they vote to overturn the results of a presidential election he lost fair and square, to which any challenges—typically based on social media disinformation, or pure hallucinatory fantasy—have been dismissed time and again in court.

Yep… Gotta be ‘activists’ that keeping huge, multinational banks from loaning money to the buggy whip manufacturers….

    ~

A disturbing trend has developed in which banks are declining to work with entire industries based on the desires of activists. Some of these industries that have been rejected by banks in recent years include private prison operators, gun makers and oil and gas companies.

These decisions all followed pressure from progressive campaigners, but if the trend continues it could lead to discrimination and debanking of controversial or disliked industries of all kinds. This is not in America’s best interest, and this is why the government should adopt a proposed new regulation to stop it.

Banks are creating a new version of redlining, this time against legal industries, for political and ideological reasons and blaming it on vague risks to the banks’ reputations.

Now, the Acting Comptroller of the Currency has proposed a regulation, based on the Dodd-Frank Act, that would make it illegal for banks to use category-based risk evaluations to deny access to financial services. This may be the last chance to protect the American economic system from overarching political grievances.

Take the energy industry, for example, which desperately needs this rule to avoid catastrophe for the United States. Six of the largest U.S. banks already have committed not to fund new exploration and production projects in the Arctic.

In fact, oil companies are not pursuing new Arctic drilling, but the bank policies seem like a foreshadowing of more to come, and that could lead to real problems.

    McConnell went down to Georgia

he was lookin’ for a state to steal

    he was in a bind

    ’cause he was way behind

and he was willin’ to make a deal

When he came upon this young man

sawin’ on a podium and speaking’ it hot

    and Mitch jumped

    up on a hickory stump

and said boy let me tell you what

I guess you didn’t know it

    but i’m a politician too

and if you’d care to take a dare i’ll make a bet with you

Now you give a pretty good stump speech, boy

    but give McConnell his due

    i’ll bet the senate control

    against your soul

‘cause i think i’m better than you

The boy said my name’s Warnock

and it might be a sin

    but i’ll take your bet

    and you’re gonna regret

‘cause i’m the best there’s ever been

Warnock warm up your voice and play your campaign hard

cause hell’s broke loose in georgia and the McConnell deals the cards

and if you win you get a senate like times of old

but if you lose McConnell keeps control.

McConnel opened up his warchest and said “I’ll start this show”

And fire and brimstone flew from his mouth as he riled up the crowd below

And he brought Trump to a rally there where he made an evil hiss

And a band of sycophants joined in, and it sounded somethin’ like this

    When McConnel finished

Warnock said "You’re a pretty good run old son

But sit down in that minority chair

And let me show you how it’s done.”

FIRE IN THE WHITE HOUSE RUN DEMS RUN

NANCY IN THE HOUSE WITH THE RISING SQUAD

BERNIE’S IN THE CHAMBER GETTING MY DOUGH

BIDEN, DOES YOUR DOG BITE NO CHILD NO

When Warnock finished, McConnel knew that he’d been beat

So he laid his senate control there at Chuck Schumer’s feet

Warnock said "McConnel! Just come back if you ever wanna try again

I done told you once, you son of a bitch,

I’m the best there’s ever been!"

Today’s the day folks. The circus is in town. Normally it’s just a half hour show. But today the clowns have decided to treat us to hours and hours of hilarious antics. But wait, for those of you who expect to be disappointed because the show’s ending is already known there’s still 14 days until the inauguration. Plenty of days to golf on the tax payer’s dime and ignore the COVID crisis. But that might be kind of dull. So don’t be surprised when “The Military Law” show is aired.

    Okay. Someone help me out.

Thought I was pretty good at flags.

But the Trump protestors are showing one that I’m not familiar with:

Solid yellow with three thin red strips horizontally.

    What is it?

(Dear God in Heaven, I hope it’s not a rip-off of a military service medal – which is my first guess, sadly, so very sadly) (If it is, then to what depths have our military – and veterans – stooped?)

The only major success that Trump has had is to deepen the divide and fan the flames of misinformation and hate… can’t undo that as quickly and easily as a calendar year flip… but we are on the path to undo it…

Time to remove Trump from office by force right now. He is promoting revolution and shows his lack of interest in democracy and our country.

After today, Trump needs to be censured at the very least; I’d prefer the 25th amendment.

Listening to Kevin McCarthy, I heard a lot of the same nonsense I’d heard earlier on Fox; their coverage even included Sarah Palin who tried to blame the unhinged mob (shockingly MITCH’s description) on antifa.
