Doonesbury is my favorite comic strip. I’ve been reading it since High School and have collected the entire set of books. The 40th Anniversary Retrospective is on its’ way courtesy of Amazon. I can’t wait! I hope Mr. Trudeau never hangs up his pen.
Lastly, buying a North American car should be a source of pride as it is for a Japanese person to buy a Japanese vehicle. It is a source of shame to buy anything foreign in Japanese culture and in most parts of Asia. I think we need to have that feeling here too.
The only cars I’ve ever owned have been Pontiacs. I’m a fan of the brand. They have a fantastic lineup of vehicles that is sadly being destroyed by bad management decisions and by bad consumer decisions. Pontiac didn’t have to die. It died because consumers were shortsighted and kept buying imports. When the entire industry collapses and there is no manufacturing base left…. oh wait. That is happening. Once the manufacturing base goes and America and Canada are unable to maintain their own defence/defense industry, what will we do then? Outsource it to China? People need to take some responsibility for their actions and use their economic buying power to keep North Americans busy and the defence and manufacturing sector strong. RIP Pontiac.
