I shouldn’t have put spaces between the top and bottom panels. A solid line would have been better. I wanted the top and bottom to be read at the same time (three panels leading to the broken mower) now you read the top first, followed by the bottom, and it doesn’t make sense.
Spot never wore a coat, relying on his hat to keep him warm. Of course, he’s not wearing a hat, either. But his winter hat was a wool sock, so perhaps the sock he’s using for dog ears works the same trick.
Spot and Karl take a nap in the final Spot the Frog strip, contemplating the nature of dreams…so a Dallas/Bob Newhart/St. Elsewhere-style revelation isn’t impossible. It might even be likely.
Bullfrogs have teeth? I didn’t know that. In other strips Spot and Buddy have teeth, but they explain them away as perceived anthropomorphism. I explain them away because a comic smile looks better when it’s toothy.
This daily probably should have been a Sunday. I did a double-take this morning when I saw it, wondering why I wedged a Sunday into the space of a daily. I’m guessing I ran short of good ideas for the week and stuffed the hole with an unused Sunday.
Much belated editing: Panel 3, the word extra isn’t necessary. Panel 4 would read better if Lumpy didn’t say “Don’t blame me.” And life would be better if Lumpy’s final line wasn’t true.
