The funny thing is, that when the second ship was ‘launched’…there was no Paris, or an Eiffel Tower. There was also no Rome yet either, since neither had been built yet. France and Italy didn’t exist yet. In Helen’s day, Italy was called ‘Latium’ and we only have Homer’s word for it. Cheers

Yep, that pretty well explains what happened to the scientific and high technology preeminence that we USED to have. Now we can’t seem to recall how to put a man on the moon. Again.

You know…I think a bunch of you got lost on your way to your local bible-pounding hall. If you’re going to stop and smell the flowers, try NOT to analyze them to death.

And ‘carmy’ we’ve been espousing the evolutionary theory for approximately 200-plus years. It took 200 MILLION years for creatures to crawl out of the sea into muck, and then onto land, so just how much evolution do you think can happen in a mere 200 years? I think you need to spend less time poking around in your ‘good-book’ and try for more quality time reading a text-book. I feel certain you could find some clues about how evolution works.

Re: SueHarper Tom Jones rendition of GGGoH was a pathetic, pasty flop. Johnny Cash sang it long before ‘Pretty Boy’ Jones and JCash was the second one to sing it. Jim Reeves was the first (though he didn’t write it) but it was never as memorable a song as the rendition by Cash. Others have sung it as well, but very few had ever attained the deep sonorous tonation that Cash put on it.

In a few more months SOMALIA won’t be noticed. Six months ago, a lot of people were shaking with righteous umbrage over everything in Somalia…now, people are just shaking.

No, some of us just watched cartoons back in the day when they were made by real masters of the cartoon art, not the finger-paint imitators who had helped to slop together the nauseating bilge of the 70s, 80s and 90s. You have my condolences if you had to suffer watching that while growing up!

Re: WildMustang1262 your remark about cleanliness of a dog’s mouth…

Would that be before or after they lick their own butt?

Please Subtorp401…nothing unique about “Great Googly Moogly” in tag line (or strip lines). That is right out of 1920’s Chicago. I remember my GREAT grandfather having uttered those words…and he was in the Spanish American War, so maybe HE coined the phrase. This note may come a bit late since 10 hours ago is when he wrote in.

No…it wouldn’t work. Better re-check your mythology. Cerebus had three heads, but only ONE was in charge. Virgil, a famous Roman philosopher and teacher, mentioned it in his Aeneid. Also note, with only one body, there is only one stomach and one esophagus.
