One of the major points about high school is to learn how to hopefully reach a point where a student develops the ability to think critically – to be able to take a collection of information, put it together, and reach a logical conclusion. Gathering the facts (in this case, story points) is one way to start developing the ability to actually think. Much of what we see today is people forming opinions based on other opinions (or even just headlines) and not looking deeper into issues.
Many arguments in favor of gun ownership because of the 2nd Amendment totally ignore the first paragraph. I believe the paragraph is there for a reason.
