In the UK and US there are two very effective medications taken daily to eliminate heartburn and, even more importantly, ‘acid reflux’, a very nasty event where you wake up coughing and spluttering when an amount of stomach acid has been released upwards into your throat and found its way into your lungs. The involuntary coughing is your lungs trying to get rid of all that horrible, burning acid. The meds are called Lansoprazole and Omeprazole and are proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) commonly used to reduce stomach acid production and treat conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and stomach ulcers. Note 1: The medications are also available under other names. Note 2: When you start taking them, you must allow them to build up in your body for a week before they become effective. Likewise, if you stop taking them, it takes 3 to 7 days before your GERD comes back, no worse than before. However, it is very likely that you’ll want to start taking them again as soon as possible! Therefore, make sure you have an adequate supply so that you never run out. Note 3: Individual responses to these medications can vary, and what works well for one person may not work as effectively for another. The choice between lansoprazole and omeprazole may depend on factors such as individual response, the specific condition being treated, and any potential side effects. It’s crucial to consult with a doctor or healthcare professional for personalized advice based on your specific health condition, medical history, and any other medications you may be taking.

So does The Queen (or the King) in my country, the UK, on formal occasions, at any rate… it’s known as the “Royal We”… rulers (singular) in many languages use the third person plural when referring to themselves.

Danae’s OK but I confess to having a mini-krush on Kate. Her shining wit and ultra-dry sense of humour just crack me up! Of course she loves her sister Danae, but… #TeamKate ❤️

Gunther ‘bumped into’ Leslie once with his backpack but only after having suffered suprprisingly (for a comic strip) intense serial abuse, spite, threats, coersion and humiliation at Leslie’s hand.
