I agree with plus4–this is every bit as viable a theory as postulating a Huge Kaboom. God was obviously the one who made everything. See http://www.icr.org/universe-power/

Yes, God’s proper name is יהוה (or YHWH, or Yahweh) yet “God” is the common designation for him, and the title he does use for himself.

Fritzoid, people have been cursing for millennia; it’s hardly a recent phenomenon. And yes, I do find many people’s language to lack decorum.

I don’t know what your name is, but I doubt you’d like it much if people treated your name without respect or as a curse.

    I don’t appreciate the casual use of God’s name….

I don’t appreciate the prayer angle. As tho. Pryor is God? Crazy.

“Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to [Jesus], ‘Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you.’ He answered, ‘A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here’ ” (Matthew 12:38-41).

Jesus said this to people who had already seen him heal the sick and raise the dead. No proof or sign or appearance will convince someone who doesn’t want to believe. But that’s why it’s called ‘belief,’ b/c one has the option to reject any idea, even one’s -own- existence. Food for thought.

Someone once said (and I paraphrase): fictional evil is exciting while fictional good is boring; but in real life, good is plenty exciting, while actual evil is anything but….

Would be funnier if people didn’t really believe this sort of thing. According to the Bible, God saves any person from hell who has faith in him. This is because of God’s grace–a gift from God. Hell is real. Purgatory is not.

What is it? These people haven’t been beat up enough, so now let’s all pile on? Not nice.
