   The best directions I have ever had were “go to the end of the pavement and turn left”. Sounds logical, except that the real pavement end is about 400 yards past the turnoff, but everyone knew that it ended there, so they gave directions based on their end of the pavement.

   The next best was to “go to the end of 12th, turn right one block, turn right, and it was the second house on the left”. Everyone who knew the area turned right 4 blocks early because “12th doesn’t go any further” even though it does.
