I think the true message of this strip is that the rest of the country needs to go on a diet.

Other than that I think it’s pretty simplistic. Why didn’t she post a similar one with the rest of America going to Hunger Games? I know there’s a bunch of folks who get a little self-righteous and spout that they went because the movie was all patriotic and about fighting for our rights. But so was SELMA. I don’t see a lot of the same people going to that.

Corporations don’t want to invest here because they’d have to pay workers an actual living wage. Why do that when they can pay next to nothing over seas and they have the support of totalitarian governments?

    I have a beard.

And I’m going to use it,

if scuttlebutt doesn’t get a brain.

“Yet, it is the exception to the norms which are used as examples on every side to denigrate those who would oppose the viewpoints being pushed.”

Which is exactly, Nola, what you do when you suggest that teachers don’t teach or don’t teach the right things.

We have 2 dogs and 4 cats, all ages and all abandoned when we took them in. We live in the mountains so the cats are indoor only. All the cats get along fine with the dogs and vice versa. I wish the older cats got along so well with each other.

Initially, the shih tzu (who’d probably never seen a cat before) used to confront them with his “death stare”. The cats of course would ignore him and he gave it up. The Shepherd mix has started to join in when the cats chase each other. It’s taking awhile for the cats to get used to that.

    It creates a nice balance.

When I was in high school in the late 60’s, we had race riots every spring. But they fought with bricks and chains and knifes. No one was killed. Today they’d have guns. It’s the culture that says if you have a gun, you have power. And power is what’s important. And I think you can blame a whole lot of sources for that.

Every time some thing like this happens, someone always says that if the average joe had only been allowed to have a gun, this would never have happened. Didn’t you notice? This happened in Arizona, a pro-gun conservative state. No one stops people from having a gun in Arizona. Not even crazies like this guy. So where were our brave, gun-toting protectors. They just never seem to be there.

The heroes were un-armed. It doesn’t take a gun. It takes courage.

By the way, I went to high school in a lower middle class high school in Nevada. There were lots of guns in the neighborhood and still are. I worry about the people who think a gun will make them something they aren’t.

It’s ok for a Supreme Court Justice to be a liar and be addicted to porn, but Heaven forbid a President should be a womanizer (but that only applies to the womanizers who are Democrats).

Once again there is a double standard.

    Typical conservatives.

As far the as the liberal racism remark? Yeah, that has to be Sorensen’s motivation. Just like anyone who’s anti-Obama, right?

    Typical reactionaries

There were some real discussions going on here and I was learning something until harleyquinn shows up with his useless stereotypes of Acorn and class warfare. I can read this angry venom on practically any blog on the internet from frustrated individuals who only know enough to make themselves dangerous. It makes the angry reactionaries angrier and turns off everyone else. It doesn’t add to the discussion.

Reagan freed millions of Europeans? Read the history, please. Reagan gave a speech to a wall, attacked a tiny little island, and bombed Lybia.

Or just keep telling the fairy tales until everyone believes its true.
