When my sister was about that age, she came home from playing with a neighbor kid and told Mom, “I know all about the birds and the bees now. The birds sing and the bees sting.” Mom breathed a big sigh of relief. :-)
When we lived in San Diego in the mid ‘60s, we had home delivery. There’s something special about milk out of glass bottles, just seems to taste better.
Just out of curiosity (and because someone mentioned it on a blog I read), does anyone here remember the Maginot Line? And how well it worked for France?
Spam sales are always good here in Hawaii and on Guam as well.
And I can remember one year (1945?) when Mom cross-hatched the whole can of Spam and put cloves in the intersections just as you do with ham and baked it. With some green beans and sweet potatoes, it was a pretty good meal.
I enjoy your sketches, but my favorites are the ones you do of people. You always seem to capture them in a way that shows their character. So thank you and Happy Holidays.
