No, it is NEVER “PB”, only “personal best”. I first heard the term about 20 years ago related to fun-run 10Ks and other endurance events, but it has become used much less now. I have never heard “personal record” before now. BTW, I don’t think there are “bests” or “records” for bike racing, since each course is unique. Same with rock climbing. BTW2, probably 80% of southerners over 30 say “cold drink” instead of “pop” (father) or “soda” (used in baking biscuits).

I live in a country where almost every person has a mobile phone including Buddhist monks, no one has voice mail, and name cards (for non-business use also) are used by almost everyone. To show proper respect, both the person giving and the person receiving the card must hold it with both hands.

We use ancient or semi-ancient spellings when the spelling connects us with an ancient time. It would loose its allure if we modernize it– or more accurately, eggcorn it. “God’s my main man. Ain’t no thang I needs.” – 23rd Psalm

jacaByte: You get a similar warning from OS X, and for all the computer newbees, in all systems, you can’t format the hard drive when started to it. You have to boot to another disk, such as a floppy diskette (ancient stuff), and external Firewire drive, or a CD/DVD. The details mentioned in this comic are about Windows. Typically, you can’t delete the “Documents and Settings” folder either. Windows installs system files (amazing but try) in the user’s folder.
