I had to put my cat to sleep so the vet came to my houseto do the work. I cried like I didn’t know a human couldshed so many tears. She was 16 and I’d had her since she was 7 weeks old. She knew me better than I knew myself.Honest! Sometimes, I felt like she could read my mind.
A couple years before that, I had to have my other cat putto sleep. She was 15 and I’d had her since she was a tiny baby. Talk about crying.
I now have an old cat found on a country road on a coldwinter day. He’s old but in shape. Oh man! He’s sostrong. Have had him for 3 years this month and lovehim to pieces. Sleeps with me too :)
I know I will cry my heart out when it’s time for himto go but, then, I think of all the joy he brought me.So, I end up a winner. I’m sure.
In the late 40’s, I received a “whole” nickel each Sundayand my girlfriend and I would go to this restaurant, sit atthe counter and order a bottle of Orange Crush – theywere dark brown then, remember? – and sip away feelinglike grownups :). When the owner saw us girls coming in, he’d take out the bottles right away. It was fun.
Hadn’t realized it before but there’s some truth to whatBen says.
The very best for the New Year to you all.
