Fake Christians? Of course Trump isn’t a Christian, but neither are 99.9% of people who claim to be either. The zombie messiah didn’t say volunteer to be trained and make a living killing people. According to Matthew 5 he said 39: “But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”44: “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,”22: “whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”
“Patriotism is an ephemeral motive that scarcely ever outlasts the particular threat to society that aroused it.” – Denis Diderot, Observations on the Drawing Up of Laws, 1774.
“Patriotism … for rulers is nothing else than a tool for achieving their power-hungry and money-hungry goals, and for the ruled it means renouncing their human dignity, reason, conscience, and slavish submission to those in power. … Patriotism is slavery.” – Leo Tolstoy, Patriotism and Christianity (1894).
“the backwardness, anachronism, and harmfulness of patriotism [are] met, either by silence, by intentional misinterpretation, or by a strange unvarying reply to the effect that only bad patriotism (Jingoism or Chauvinism) is evil, but that real good patriotism is a very elevated moral feeling, to condemn which is not only irrational but wicked. What this real, good patriotism consists in, we are never told; or, if anything is said about it, instead of explanation we get declamatory, inflated phrases, or, finally, some other conception is substituted for patriotism – something which has nothing in common with the patriotism we all know, and from the results of which we all suffer so severely.” – Leo Tolstoy, Patriotism and Government, 1900.
“Conceit, arrogance, and egotism are the essentials of patriotism. … Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who have had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent than the living beings inhabiting any other spot.” – Emma Goldman, Patriotism: a menace to liberty. 1911
“I was over in Australia, and everyone’s like: ‘Are you proud to be an American?’ And I was like, ‘Um, I don’t know, I didn’t have a lot to do with it. You know, my parents fucked there, that’s about all.’”- Bill Hicks

@John LockeHe was fine with sacrificing his son Jesus tho. I wonder if the zombie messiah’s forgiven his all-powerful dad for not figuring out something less crucifixiony instead.
The vast majority of Americans choose to keep voting for Democrats and Republicans. They therefor choose to vote for biosphere destruction, a genocidal war economy, and snooping on their emails, web searches, Skype sessions, phone calls…
They choose not to vote for ethical people like Nader, because they don’t care if future generations have a survivable biosphere, they don’t want an ethical economic system, they don’t want privacy…

The problem with technocrats (experts who understand the scientific method, are capable of rational thought and identifying and rejecting fallacies) is that while they will almost certainly make better leaders than people who are good are running for office, how do you get rid of them when they eventually go bad? Who decides to fire them? The people who keep voting for the superstitious and greedy Demoplicans deserve getting screwed by them. The rest of us don’t, but the catch 22 is that we have to play by their rules to change the rules, at which point we’ve become them.
In Mark 10:21 Jesus is reported as saying “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.”
In 24:25 he says “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
It’s pretty clear from that this Jesus meant something impossible - not a rope, and not a gate. He clearly didn’t think greed was good, and didn’t think economics should be based on capitalism.
