The 1.2 is correct. 393 million guns in private hands.
That doesn’t tell the whole story either though. For instance, my dad was an avid hunter. I inherited 7 guns(I think) from him. They’re a range of rifles and shotguns.
I gave away all of the ammunition and bullet loading tools to my cousin, who hunts before bringing the arms into my home.
The rifles and shotguns have been sitting in the attic or basement, unused, since the late 80’s.
Esso is still the brand name in most of the world including Canada, Japan, Australia, South America and parts of Europe, as far as I know. (Source: I once worked in an Exxon manufacturing facility that shipped Esso branded products to these places.)
That was a short-lived alliance.
