My local big box hardware store (HD) sells tools the same way now. I only needed on 5/17 inch wrench, but could only buy a full set of wrenches. Now THAT doesn’t fit in my toolbox, much less my junk drawer.
My younger brother was born December 6; my older son was born September 11. We don’t stop celebrating their birthdays because o the horrors that took place, but despite them.
Funny how these things are. When coworkers used to ask me if I wanted to join them in going to a topless bar, I said I reserved the weekend for a chess tournament. If one isn’t in to chess, one probably can’t see how it could possibly compare for excitement!
We were lucky! I, too, was outside, barefoot most of the time, doing all sorts of intersting things all summer, and only came in when it was too dark to see or I was hungry. But that was before “playing outside” meant sexual predators, kidnappers, drugs, and whole host of other realities that exist these days. I have sympathy for kids and for their moms that getting outside to play all summer just isn’t what it used to be. As I said, we were lucky. Just poison ivy (or oak), bee stings, and the occasional snake to watch out for.
Nothing works as well as a Fisherman’s Friend, although so far none of my four cats has given it a scan in the morning. Vermont Country Store sells ’em.
Sorry, don’t agree with you about Morris Dees and the SLPC. If nothing else, its education program is excellent, and I’ve been supporting it for years.
I think his name being Napalm is in poor taste.
