I, too, started out 50 years ago at my college newspaper as a long-haired liberal editorial cartoonist (majoring in engineering). Alas, I opted for a job in the corporate world. I remained an avid consumer of cartoons, especially political commentary, with some pangs of regret that I did not pursue that direction. Tom Toles’ work has been a favorite of mine for many years. This news comes as a shock. I wish Tom well in his retirement, but mine will no longer be the same without a daily dose of his art to ponder and appreciate.
This is right up there with the best stuff Mort Drucker drew for MAD Magazine. Priceless! What a bunch of clowns.
