on Ten Cats
I once severely dislocated my left shoulder. My arm was strapped to my torso for 12 weeks. I learned to keep the caps lock key engaged for typing. I also found an app in Word that was useful for applications that needed two keys pressed at once; with it you pressed the first, then the second, and for a few seconds they were as one. Very handy. The funniest thing was: My sister came over the help me shower. I got into the tub, she handed me the open bottle of shampoo, and then she heard me say, “S—-!” and she started laughing like a maniac because she knew exactly what had happened. Through long habit I had poured a big dollop of shampoo into the palm of my left hand, which I couldn’t move to my head of wet hair.

One doesn’t “come down” with glaucoma any more than one “comes down” with flat feet or prematurely gray hair. Glaucoma can be treated but not cured. Too often the end result is blindness. If it helped me, you wouldn’t see me for the clouds of smoke. And what’s it to you if people want to use cannabis for whatever reason or no reason at all?

Name something that does help in the long run. (Which was how long again?)

on Breaking Cat News
I sometimes enjoy the comments also, but I don’t enjoy suddenly finding out what’s happening next week. I can’t unread them. The author puts, I’m sure, much thought into how to tell the story and when a new character comes in and what that character does and so on. I don’t think it’s up to another reader to tell me those things before we’re at that place in the story, even if it has been printed before, and I’m not sure why he/she does that. There’s a reason for yelling SPOILER if it’s necessary to discuss future activity in the story.

I have just blocked all comments. Even though I have read these strips before, I’d rather not read a bunch of other readers comment on how cute it is. Give me a little space to find and enjoy on my own, please.

on Luann
I would like to see Pru and the young black woman whose name I have forgotten who was Luann’s friend in high school meet and fall in love and marry.

on The Elderberries
I started reading The Elderberries from the very first strip and loved it. Seeing these early strips again has made me realize even more regretfully how degraded the strip became after Corey P took it over. I am an elder and CP had no real feeling for being an elder. It was immediately noticeable that he was laughing at us, not with us. There’s a lot of humor and irony in getting old, but he only saw the pratfalls. I’m so glad it’s being rerun from the beginning.
