The hypocrisy of the Republican party is absolutely astounding. First off, the health care reform package passed by the Democratic congress was largely modeled on the one adopted in Massachusetts a few years ago when Mitt Romney–a REPUBLICAN–was governor. At the time, Romney thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, and it was praised as a model for national reform.
Secondly, think back to the debate over ‘Hillary Care’ about 15 years ago. One of the proposals the Republicans came up with to counter the Democrat plan involved having an individual mandate.
But when a democrat comes up with the same plan, suddenly its socialism. Go figure.
