she’s afraid she’ll drop them or crush them…she’s really focused on keeping Mom’s flowers pretty. (foreshadow, foreshadow)

I’m guessing Luddie will be right there on the schooner, acting the role of ship’s cat…

As an expat, being shipped anywhere just doesn’t happen that fast…it takes months of gutwrenching stress and upheaval!
Artistic license, etc., etc., etc…..but even a period of weeks would have been more realistic.

I used this with my advanced ESL classes just last week — they were a little amazed that I could clarify about 3/4 of the dialogue without looking at my script.
Still one of the greatest movies ever made…and some day I will find a hat like that.

only problem with more pecks is that it means more peck…you know, one who pecks.I don’t think we need any more of those.

during a horrible winter storm delay at an airport, I saw a businessman push his way to the front of the very long line waiting to be rebooked/have hotel reservations. The incredibly patient lady at the counter told him that he’d have to take his place in line, and he erupted with a stream of obscenities, ending with “don’t you know who I am?!”She calmly picked up her microphone and announced over the PA that whomever was traveling with the gentleman in the business suit needed to come to his rescue, because he had no idea who he was.Cheers and applause, and an immediate jump in respectful behavior toward the poor woman behind the counter.

Freeholder, bouillabaisse is served hot. You’re thinking of vichysoisse.

CutiePie, you need your thickest skin to take part in an online forum. The big boys and girls play very rough, and you face taking an insult broadside even for something as inane as “the sky is blue and the sun is shining.”
My best advice for you is to just let it roll off of you – meet measured, logical discourse with measured, logical discourse…and ignore the rest of it.
And on this forum in particular, let yesterday be yesterday. The discussion starts anew with each new panel.
