   True. Laid off means there’s no work available. Discharged (fired) means the employer took action to separate the employee.In Elly’s case it’s a straight lay off due to budget cuts.

   Walk around until you find someone with a bigger boat than yours. Offer to pay them for use of their boat. Take the wolf, goat, cabbages and boat owner across the river. Let them row back. If the boat is not big enough for two people and cargo, let them watch the wolf/goat or goat/ cabbages while you row back for the rest.
