A friend of mine had a basset hound and left him tied up outside a Post Office while he went to send a parcel by air mail to his aunt, who lives in Vancouver.
Anyway, Ted, the basset hound, was hit by a reversing delivery truck. Both his back legs, and his hip, were broken.
Despite the best efforts of a very competent vet, Ted had to be put to sleep.
It was a truly terrible time for my friend, who to this day holds himself responsible.
A parking ticket is the least of your worries, Fred. Whatever country you’re in, it is likely illegal for a dog to be in the front seat of a motor vehicle.
In some countries, you would be impounded and possibly destroyed - most likely by lethal injection administered by a certified veterinarian.
He shouldn’t take Fred for granted like this. The average life span of a basset hound is only a little over 10 years. He should take every opportunity to spend time with Fred as he’ll miss him when he’s not around any more.
I was looking forward to Fred exacting revenge on this Pepe creature, but on reflection he has maintained his dignity far better by refusing to retaliate.
Well done, Fred - discretion is the better part of valour.
I’m just relieved Fred’s alright.
