This “They” is either an imposter or a rogue Theyvanian. The real They are plural and They are the people of Theyvania. Everything They say issues from Theyvania.
Wait. I could be wrong, but I don’t recall Vicki the Biker’s thoughts ever being audible to others. I don’t recall Jim or anyone hearing and responding to V the B’s comments, as he does here. I thought Vicki’s “speech” was all in Rose’s imagination. Is this breaking of that wall a first? Or am I wrong?
I’m sure Greg knew what he was doing. It’s well known among cartoonists that those two letters together look like “u” in comic strips. This is why you don’t give male characters a certain name, because it would look very vulgar in the strip for just this reason. (I’m too big a prude to say what name; don’t want you to have to wish you could un-see it.) The final frame of today’s strip more than winks at the double entendre, asking us “What?” about what we see in “flick” as well as portraying the mom’s reaction to her son’s clueless flicking of the tack back onto the sidewalk.
I’m probably the last to notice, but it appears that Arlo still has a “dumb” flip phone, like a few of us other middle-aged geezers. Nice detail, Johnson. Haha.
