I don’t like to complain about the illustrations because I absolutely love this strip (have read it everyday since day one), but an armless baby creeps me out a bit…
dad - “I just found some solar powered xmas lights at Lowes!!”
me - “What on earth do you need those for?”
dad - “You don’t need to know. It’s just something I want.”
me - ::thinking, thinking:: “Oh! You’re gonna put a tree on Mom’s grave aren’t you?”
dad - “Well, I’d like to. Haven’t done it in a while.”
Saturday, talking to dad again…
dad - “Have you read today’s Lio yet?”
me - “Nope not yet! Why?”
dad - “Just make sure you’re of sound state of mind or alone when you do.”
me - “What could Lio possibly do now that would require me to be sane? It’s Lio…”
Wow. I had no idea Lio would make me cry. Lio should look into those solar powered lights. She would’ve been 51 yrs old on Christmas morning. :( There’s no sound state of mind when someone misses their mommy.
