If the Bush tax cuts were allowed to sunset as was the case, I’m sure you’d be the first to call them a tax HIKE. By extending them, there IS a tax cut (its Obama’s now, not Bush’s as his legislation is now over) and yes, they add DO ADD to the debt because this was expected revenue for the government before the extension. No double talk here, DTP.

I’ll explain it to you, you heartless bastard. No, there weren’t 11,000 firefighters on duty that day. But there were many more firefighters, policemen, EMTs, and volunteers from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY who came to Ground Zero to work 24/7 for the next 9 months after 9/11 to clean up. And if you bothered to listen to any testimony or even just look it up, you’d understand.
That PDF provided by mdavis is talking about compensation for those killed or injured that day, not for the thousands of volunteered to dig up dead bodies and clean up the site in unsafe conditions for months on end. Conditions, mind you, that were falsified when the government prematurely called the air quality safe.
And the business about loading this bill with pork is a bunch of BS. This was a stand alone bill that they’ve been trying to pass since the summer - it wasn’t a last minute thing as the GOP claims. Sometimes going to an independent news source can be enlightening. Some of you should try it sometime.
