EXCELLENT point, Mark! As a paper engineer (designer of pop-up books) I’m often asked about the future of pop-up books on Kindle and iPad. Pop-up books just don’t translate well to the electronic format. Some things just need to be held in your hands to be appreciated. And while picture books and movable books CAN make the leap, there will always be something special about the printed page. A book is a timeless gift, evoking treasured memories. The Kindle and iPad are great for efficiently presenting the written word, but they will never be precious heirlooms. Hats off to Mark for this great reminder!
