Every day I look forward to the art in this strip—world class-! (Especially in B+W.) I wonder if the creators / illustrators are monitoring this blog—if so, I have some production questions to ask—thanks for giving TRACY that respect he’s earned all these decades—cheers—
Our experience with the lamaze class was this: all that crap is to keep dad occupied while mom screams with pain. (Chances are, she’ll beg for a shot to deaden her from the waist down.) I admire my wif’e’s bravery to deliver our two kids “naturally.” I felt useless…
Fellow Tracy fans, I love this strip because it’s one of the only surviving Old School strips that concentrate on contrast and line weights—in my opinion, it is FAR better without color—today’s single panel is particularly stunning in B&W—I invite you all to go here—(I have added a few spaces to allow the post)—http ://www. chron.com/entertainment/comics-games/comic/Dick-Tracy/
Been following this strip since the 50’s. I once made a pilgrimage to the Jewish Museum in NYC, then across the river in NJ, to view original art boards by Chester Gould (among other cartoonist heroes of mine). I watched with sadness as the last permutation of this strip withered and died, but honor the former team all the same. Gould is looking down from Illustrator Paradise with a large grin of satisfaction today. Today’s panel two: model sheet for Tracy in profile. I have spent my life trying to preach that cartoon illustrators are as relevant as any working artists on the planet. Staton & Curtis: thanks, maestros. And a tip o’ the yellow fedora to GoComics.
