We just found out the hard way that newspapers charge you not hundreds but almost $1000 for an obituary for my father with a picture. We opted for a small ‘death notice’ that was 1 line long and looked like he was some homeless transient. I can’t believe how the ‘death’ industry gouges people who are grieving!!! The airlines, the funeral parlours, the floral shops! ALL of them take advantage of people who have lost loved ones.
