Food stamps are used to buy food from local stores. Those stores pay taxes and hire employees who also pay taxes. The food is grown by farmers who pay taxes and hire employees who pay taxes. The food is processed, transported and advertised, ect. All of the people involved in it’s production pay taxes and spend the money they make in stores, buy homes, rent apartments, buy cars ect.
It is overly simplistic to say that all it does is encourage some to not work. Jobs and employees are subject to the laws of supply and demand too. It you put 20 million people on the street and tell them to work or stave they will mostly try to find work which will drive down wages as employers find cheaper labor. Will you like it when you are replaced by a lower paid employee because you couldn’t stand the thought of them not working.
Not high school or even college sweet hearts but going on 34 years together. The others here will contest that here is a feeling of serenity that comes from a realationships like this.
Let’s see…Assad has admited he has gas weapons and has agreed to give those over to the Russians. And he did this all because Obama DIDN’T threaten to bomb his ass back to the stone age?
Wealthy, middle class, and poor, what’s left to define?
That you mention the ‘USA deficite’ tells me that you feel that you are taxed enough already.
Perhaps if those raising the next generation of Americans didn’t need to try to survive on a minimun wage instead of a living wage they would be meet your expectations as to how they live their lives.
Depriving them and their children of food, health care and self esteem, might make you feel good but I hope you don’t have to depend on an under educated, under trained, and uninterested person to care for you or a loved one.
I am still amazed by how the wealthy in America were able to convince some of the middle class that the poor were the sole cause of all their problems.
