Is there some sort of code here? Women in short skirts are unsympathetic characters (Ann, Stef, SuperLuann and in days gone by Tiff). Luann owned miniskirts but wore them only on dates. The exception would be Pam and possibly in earlier days Dianne.
Interesting question. I vaguely remember she had something going with TJ in some earlier strips (when TJ was still at Pitts high-school) but next time they met they didn’t seem to know each other. She dated ‘half’ the football team (possibly an exaggeration) and had an especial liking for the quarterback (I think he was Chuck). She considered Manuel (a rather handsome Spanish lad who later got very cosy with Luann) her boyfriend and was also shown arm in arm with Quill before Luann grabbed him. Gunther was a friend rather than a boyfriend although I recall her kissing him once. I think she went to a school dance with Aaron. In short, she’s had dates but nothing serious.
Well it looks like I was wrong yesterday and Bets wasn’t in room A making out with Gunther. OK the strip is being dragged back into prim respectability but I still think it’s time Tiff and Luann had boyfriends – or maybe the same boyfriend.
Has it occurred to anyone that Dez should be in Room A agreeing living arrangements with Bets? Is it possible that she also needed to leave the room because Bets and Gunther were busy exploring the new level of their relationship? With Bets and Gunther and of course Stef and Kip in relationships, Bernice getting physical with Nil, Tara apparently written off the strip and Dez seemingly content with her earth-mother lifestyle, this just leaves the script’s two man-mad blondes needing partners! How likely is that? Tiffany knows all about cheerleading and snogging quarter-backs. Luann certainly knows all about snogging. Didn’t they both spend their school years plotting to steal each other’s boyfriends? Come on girls shake a leg – or at least show some.
Colleges have football teams and cheerleaders. Why shouldn’t Stef wear her cheerleader outfit? Maybe Tiff will get back into her’s. Or maybe Bernice…. no, that’s silly!
I think this is an earlier strip, possibly from the Quill era, when Luann knew she was a pretty girl with a hunky boyfriend and dressed and acted accordingly.
Tiff did date the school team quarterback. I think he was Chuck. In fact she dated half the team and had plans for the other half.
