Halloween comes from the Celtic festival of Samhain, which predates Christianity. As with Christmas, the Christians stole the previous pagan festival to convert more people to their sect. Pumpkin carving comes from the Irish and Scottish tradition of carving jack o’lanterns in swedes, or turnips.
I used to keep racing snails. One day, I thought it would be a good idea to remove their shells to make them go faster. It didn’t work, it just made them sluggish.
