   My memories of this are different from most people my age, because my family didn’t have a television, so I didn’t see the endlessly repeating film that most people saw. I do remember being sent home from school.

   I DID get to see Kennedy’s motorcade a year or two before that, though: a much more vivid memory for me.

   Interestingly, the news about the assassination resulted in most people completely overlooking the death of C.S. Lewis the same day.

   It’s on the National Park Service website; the diameter is 35 feet. Yep, 35/pi is a little over 11 feet, so they clearly gave the diameter, not the circumference. I wish waist measurements were always in diameters. I could wear much smaller trousers!

   It’s now been one full year since they recycled one of these panels. I, for one, miss it. This was one of the first things I started reading when I learned how to read; I thought it would show me the wonders of what it would be like when I finally became a teenager.
