A thought occurs to me. At the end of this Shannon will have a cute little child’s story which will be admired by the other elders and Bernice will count it as a feather in her cap because of how successful her “methods of encouragement worked”. “Blah blah by casting doubt I pushed her to explore.. blah blah blah…”
WOW, that threw me for a second. My baby hasn’t given me a good night’s sleep in days and I haven’t had my morning coffee yet. I forgot what my profile picture was and was trying to figure out who was named Annie and Shadow in this comic.
Bernice went along with Shannon to play instead of bowing out. Doing so implies that you will actually play with them. And whether or not you’re good with kids or like them, etc, of you agree to play with them it isn’t fair to the kid to then make no effort to actually do so.
Bernice will be sure to deflate any percieved sense of personal accomplishment Luann may have over the situation. Probably give her multiple diagnoses of whatever (insert jargon) she is going through, and generally just make her feel overall worthless.
I feel like Luann has been yo-yo’d more than put in stasis. She had goals at one point and was working towards them. But that’s just gone now.Last year I did a read through of the entire series and every time Luann finds something she is good at it gets focused on for a little while and then fades away. Like the feel the need to keep blanking her slate so she can be “relatable to everyone” somehow.
