answer to the question in the 3rd panel: the allied forces did not indiscriminately bomb population centers forcing millions of Iraqis to flee to neighboring countries… that was easy
Based on Lemont’s assertions in yesterday’s strip, he appears to be using a broad definition of “mass shooting” that would capture quite a lot of the “inner city” activity mentioned at the start of this thread
excerpt from article: "The FBI defines “mass murder” as “four or more victims slain, in one event, in one location.” Starting with the FBI’s definition of four or more fatalities, the Congressional Research Service reported that from 1999 through 2013 there were an average of 20 to 22 mass shootings in the U.S. annually.
The website Mass Shooting Tracker, by contrast, counted 340 mass shootings in the U.S. between New Year’s Day and last Monday—consistent with Mr. Murphy’s [Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut] claim of more than one a day. "
President Obama has set new precedents for speech activity since taking office, delievering 411 speeches comments or remarks in his first year alone (according to CBS). 42 of these were news conferences (double the comparable Bush tally). If anything, President Obama made himself the Irrelevant man by being too visible.
Oh wait… “little things” (healthcare reordering of 16% of the economy, largest financial regulation since the ’30s, largest peacetime spending since the New Deal, etc.)… Big L “still talking”…
