Gammel’s illustrations always struck me at a bit creepy even when they were supposed to be playful. When the Relatives Came by Rylant, for example, which was a Caldecott Honor book— he won the Caldecott for Song and Dance Man.
I don’t often comment either place, but I started following Georgia after the “Man Has Lost His Tail” strip was posted. Someone shared it on FB and I followed from there.
Speaking of books, our library has a video some might enjoy… especially the choices for comic strips. https://www.facebook.com/bristolpubliclibrary/videos/1148146085536737/
Really cute strip! But what sort of (I presume) caterpillars are they? We have similarly colored ones called woolly worms or woolly bears but they show up in the fall. Followers of weather folklore use them to predict the coming winter weather based on the number of brown/black and orange bands.
I don’t know how many times I’ve read them— I was one of the early folk who was following her online long before Gocomics picked up the strips— but I WOULD like to recommend that fans pick up a copy of the book. It’s a lovely collection and sales might encourage another book. I see it as something I’m happy to own and read and that my purchase may have helped the artist out just a bit.
I’m sorry. I can’t do this anymore. I have gotten a great deal of joy out of your strips, until you have a cat in them. Then all the comments pile on about how evil cats are, and I know there is no place for me here. I wish you well. I will miss the strips that are kind, sweet, and funny. But the sorrow of the anti cat strips has just gotten to be too much.
that comment could be a strip in itself and I am sure cat people would share it far and wide! Perfect!
