Goat said my thoughts exactly. Though I’m not rude enough to spoil superbowl parties, I’ve never understood getting happy/angry/excited for teams. That apathy extends to the Olympics. I’m glad all of these athletes are doing their best…but their winning/losing doesn’t affect me in any way.
Ha. This strip reminds me of a discussion I had with a friend. She thought it strange my parents never had me believe in Santa. And I’m thinking, as a parent, when your kids don’t get all the super cool stuff they’d like because you can’t afford it, do you just explain Santa loves rich kids more? I knew bullies in school with the latest gadgets since their parents could buy them. I knew nice kids with a few new school outfits because that’s all “Santa” brought them… There was some definite Santa resentment at my school.
That’s cool Kaputnik, and rude telemarketers are the worst. Yet, you don’t realize how much you can make. I chose to do that demeaning job for 3 months to pay my tuition, then went back to my reg job in retail at a Barnes & Noble. But that quick telemarketing stint saved me from huge student loans to pay off. I made in 3 months what would have taken me nearly three times as long working at Burger King…and yes, I checked.
Telemarketers are annoying, yes. But yell at the companies that hire them, not the employees. I worked as a telemarketer for 3 months while in college, paying off tuition. I hated it. But I needed the cash. Yelling at the marketers is like yelling at the employees at a store for changes in company policy. The employees have absolutely no say, would surely rather be doing something else, and are taking the abuse while the people in charge and who can actually do something about it are enjoying no public abuse. If it’s between not paying the rent or working for an annoying company…
I teach English, and ‘none’ comes up a lot. ‘None’ is actually an indefinite pronoun, and you can use it as plural or singular, depending on your subject.
awesome. both for your patience and your desire to work that in.
