You know, I worked as a security guard all through college (eight hours of paid study hall). And I gotta say, no company I ever worked for would let a guard keep their hair that long, or wear boots that outlandish with their uniform. 99% of the job is the image a guard projects, and Roy’s is…. well, the field supervisor would send him home on sight and he’d be fired the next day.
I know it’s a comic, I know he’s supposed to be a bit of a sleaze and an idiot, but Roy just shot blanks at his best friend’s head at point blank range. That is NOT okay. The imagery is downright disturbing. In 2017, 39,773 people died from gun-related injuries in the United States (Citation: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/08/16/what-the-data-says-about-gun-deaths-in-the-u-s/). I understand this is fantasy, it’s a comic strip. But this? It isn’t funny. People playing with firearms aren’t a source of humor, they’re a source of tragedy.
Chaos and Patch.
