Basically, Pastis looks at the puns his fans suggest to him, choose one, illustrates it, and then makes fun of it in the last panel. That’s 90% of all PBS strips. The problem is that anyone could do that. Pastis is not needed for that process – unless the illustration is fun, too. Most of the time, it isn’t. It is just the main characters talking. This one is a little better because it actually looks funny. But tomorrow we will be back to lame pun with lame illustration.
