The president said the Nazis and Nazi-adjacent folks at that rally included some “very fine people.” One of them murdered a counter-protester with a vehicle. There have been multiple humanizing or encouraging pieces on “White Nationalists,” which is one of the things Neo-Nazis have rebranded to, including calling Richard Spencer dapper. Nazi-aligned channels on Youtube are common and being boosted by the likes of Pewdiepie. Nazi trolls are common online. Multiple Nazi discord servers and Telegram group chats have been exposed.
Also… it wasn’t just “right wingers.” It was Russians. Attempting to influence the outcome of the election. Which is illegal. That’s not up for debate at this point.
That’s… literally the point. The entire trial is a sham based on the orn’s negative views of humans. “One of the Good ones” is a way to acknowledge that someone doesn’t confirm to your bigoted preconceptions without actually changing your image of the group they’re part of, and is insulting and offensive. Being in a fantasy context doesn’t remove this subtext from the storyline and this particular strip.
