I think she’s commenting on the fact that they’re in a comic strip. Arlo had commented on what a beautiful day it was when we, the readers, aren’t really there either.
You don’t even know if it’s true? Have you ever tried to pose a real stuffed animal? Stiff as a board. They are not posable, except as they’re being stuffed by the taxidermist.
Well, maybe Gene has withheld from his parents the fact that they’ve already been enjoying the “benefits” of marriage. That’s not something you tell your parents. (Remember, Janice once referred to her as a hussy. Gene has probably kept their antics quiet.)
It’s bird poop. The colorist accidentally colored it dark purple like the rest of the suit “highlights”. If you look close you can see the splat in the last panel on Gene’s left shoulder.
Soda is not just a southern term. I’m from California and everyone I know calls it “soda.” You never really hear the term “pop” or even “soda pop”, although we know what they mean.
I think the joke is that he considers the net his maid. It cleans his home all the time, thus, it would expect a holiday tip.
