flowergirl is correct. It was the great downsizing of the Sunday comix that was limiting his artistry. His final strip was a not subtle jab at the industry by drawing his final panel full size. What a loss. Just so they could cram more outdated Mark Trail and Mary Worth strips in to cater to the old folks that still buy the newspapers…. Ah, well- it just makes the existing body of work more valuable, I suppose. But, there still has never been a replacement strip anything like C&H. Watterson still rules!

There are actually two shifts of perspective, of course. From P1 to P2 the viewer has moved from in front of them to the left and from P2 to P3, to behind them.
