Kim Marie Nicols, MSW, MA has over 30 years of experience in human services and educational programs working with individuals with hearing loss and is fluent in American Sign Language. She is currently employed as the Customer Relations Manager at Hearing Care Center, an audiological practice in Sharon, MA. She has also been a Middle School Counselor for deaf and hard of hearing students in an educational collaborative and a Case Manager at the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Her graduate education earned her degrees in Clinical Social Work with the Hearing Impaired at Boston College and Educational Administration and Supervision in the Field of Deafness at California State University, Northridge. Workshop materials she has developed include "Laughing with Hearing Loss" (presented at the Hearing Loss Association of America 2016 Convention), "Hearing Loss should be a Laughing Matter: Humor in an Audiological Practice", “The Person Behind the Ear”, “Listen Up – Tips to Help You Hear Better”, and a disabilities awareness program curriculum on hearing loss which has been implemented in several Massachusetts elementary schools. She has an extensive collection of cartoons related to hearing loss, some of which are posted at www.GoComics.com/collection/1311807 under Hearing Care Humor. Kim Marie is also funnier than her adolescent daughters think she is.
