Frazz’s comment can be interpreted to mean that because Hallmark movie season is coming, it is too bad she will miss it because her grandparents’ TVs are all on the same channel that is not Hallmark. At least that is how I read it.
But really, why does she care? Most kids are glued to their various electronic devices, I’m surprised she even noticed.
One can be supportive and get all the work done, just trade the planned tasks. Claire can skip the turkey, lots of sides to eat plus more room for pie!
I would recommend checking to make sure that the restaurants will be open. Last Thanksgiving, we had planned to have Chinese food but found that all of our usual places had closed for the holiday. We wound up getting take out from Denny’s instead. Not bad, but not what we had been looking forward to.

To which I reply, thank you Mr. Fry for pointing that out. All thoughts of snarky comments about cardboard being a puppy deterrent were pushed aside by the question: Why aren’t Milk Duds available in a bag?
