If you are looking at high end printers, you are completely correct. I have an HP 1010, bottom of the line ink jet since I print less than 10 pages a month. As to your first reply, however, the cartridges that came with it lasted just as long as the ones I bought subsequently.
Not necessarily. I was in Walmart getting ink for mine and a twin pack with the color and black ink cartridges was 39.95; and the printer was 32.95 including two the same two cartridges. I bought the ink because I couldn’t justify throwing out a working printer to save 7 bucks, but I was tempted, I admit.
