My local paper was bought by a leftist organization called Lee Enterprise. The first thing they did was quaduple the price (>$100/month). Then they started getting the “news” from other businesses/papers they owned, rather than locally. Then the erratic delivery others here mention, started. I tried to stick-it-out for a short while but it got to be too much. I went to their digital only version (holding my nose at most of their so-called journalism from places like California) but even now it costs most than the print version used to cost 2-years ago!
Nope. Ever since my security cameras caught deer coming through our yard area looking for food, we occasionally put out corn for them. A couple of years ago, a 2-very newborn fawn showed up on our front porch. After a couple of days of them hanging around, we took them to a place where they could be taken care of.
Just before I read this, I had gone outside to cover the corn we leave for deer. If I don’t, the squirrels (I think it is one, particularly FAT squirrel I almost grabbed by the tail before he waddled off) will eat it all!
I’ve always tried to fix things that were not outside of my general skill-set. Took 2-years of electronics in high school (50+ years ago) and used to repair TV’s by going to the nearby 7-11 store and using their vacuum tube tester and buying replacements from their “most commonly used” tubes stock! Now I watch YouTube videos to show me how to replace my cars headlights!
I can relate. We don’t have any pets but we help feed the neighbors cats (the wife thought it would help to keep the cats away from the bird feeders) so I do look for cat food coupons when shopping.
CRT…..I worked on a teletype machine and mechanical adding machines.
