No, ferrets are NEITHER rodents or “lagomorphs”. Ferrets are obligate carnivores of the genus Mustelidae. Close relatives are otters, martens, badgers and wolverines. They are intelligent, cunning, and very strong for their size.
If you’ve ever had a good look inside a ferret’s mouth (or, for that matter, ever REALLY pissed off a ferret), there is no way you would ever again confuse them with rodents.
They have fantastically impressive carnivore teeth, not at all like rodents. And they have the highest jaw pressure in the animal kingdom behind those sharp teeth.
