You make good points, however, the single greatest factor in OJ’s acquittal was the venue. The murder happened in Brentwood, which would typically mean that the trial would have taken place in the West District (i.e. Santa Monica). By submitting the case to the Grand Jury, however, it was a matter for the Central District at the Criminal Courts Building with a vastly different jury pool (2 college graduates, 9 High School Graduates, 1 without a diploma; none regularly read a newspaper; 5 thought it was appropriate to use force on a family member; and 9 thought Simpson was less likely to be a murdered because he was a professional athlete). In addition, the final jury composition was vastly different from the original jury pool.

The DA could have made the decision to file an information rather than move the Grand Jury for an indictment. That resulted in the case being moved downtown, was the single factor that influenced the outcome (e.g. contrast the civil trial outcome).

However, the presentation by the Government was abysmal, For one example, when Marcia Clark stood in front of the jury and tried to compare DNA analysis to Amniocentesis to that jury (only two of which attended college) it was game over.

So, he was “really creepy” I guess he wasn’t too “creepy” to represent William Sloan Coffin when he was accused of representing Yale draft dodgers. The Doonesbury character “Scot” might feel differently than you.
