I agree with you, but it makes my spouse realllly uncomfortable so It’s easier to skip the calls. Next spring we’re going to visit them and I’m going to chat with my Father-in-law about it. I adore him.
I’m in the same age group as you. True. We do a family call every other week. In my family’s case, my mother-in-law doesn’t stop at just one comment. There are several made to the person she’s speaking to. It makes everyone uncomfortable, and it is unkind. Thankfully I am usually busy with work when the calls happen.
I’’ve seen it more than I could stand. And it’s not just girls in high school! My mother-in-law fat shames many in our family, but it is ignored for the most part. She’s in her 80’s. My mother did the same. Part of their generational curse where they were expected to be perfect.
Stef is a powerless bully who was spoiled by Kip’s attention thinking it meant more than intimacy. She is redirecting her upset meant for Kip towards Tiff because that’s what bullies do; they don’t take responsibility for their actions and blame the easiest target, in this case Tiff. Stef has nowhere else to go except to run to Kip and when/if he takes her back, this will stay Tiff’s fault and Kip will have his plaything back. Then onward to the next arc. Or Kip could develop a consciece. Ha! I wish Stef would get thrown out of the dorm for her *selfish indescretions” but this is a comic strip, so…
I dont think Tiff is there to steal anything. I think she stopped by Kip’s room to let him know what happened with Stef, and to tell him she’s going home. I’d love it if Kip went back to Stef and finally broke up with her for good.
Yes, I get that but some of us would appreciate kind consideration. That’s all.
