In another series Linus was afraid about sleeping over until Charlie Brown showed that Snoopy was on guard with an M1917 water cooled machine gun. Happiness is a belt fed weapon for home defense.

Think this is a flashback to Walden Puddle when Mike and Zonker were walking and Zonk turned it into spring. Mike asked him to do it again but Zonker said he didn’t want to wear out the batteries.

“1st of the ninth was an old Calvary division that’d cashed in its horses for choppers that’d gone tear-assing around Nam lookin’ for the sh&t!”

In all seriousness, many of the beaches in the South Pacific are strewn with garbage and other crap that washes up. A Marine visited Tarawa to study the battlefield and the invasion beaches were literally covered with bottles, nets, plastic toys, garbage bags, etc, etc.
Other islands are the same way:

I had just permanently moved to Vermont in 1999. Civil Unions were the talk of the state and the opposition to the laws had signs up saying “Take Back Vermont” while those in favor had “Take Vermont Forward.” The rhetoric got pretty heated, but fortunately not ugly like today.
Soon after Civil Unions were legal people realized that - it wasn’t really that big of a deal. The world didn’t tilt off axis, cows still gave milk, the leaves changed color as usual and wouldn’t you know it, but the Red Sox won the World Series soon afterwards. There was money to be made and these days from what I see we’re moving here towards “same sex marriage” simply being “marriage” as it should be.

I dunno. I remember recently when a lot of people threw a snit fit over that adorable Cheerios commercial with the bi-racial couple. Now, I see couples like that on TV shows, commercials and movies and there’s no outcry. Same with same sex marriages. As much as the Rethugs huff, puff and try to blow the house down I think the majority of people realize, at some point, in their lives that none of that actually affects their lives personally and move on.

Then, stuff like this happened:

As I recall, anything other than vespers was “too secular…”
Gave me a great line in my youth “Now, can I lay some java on you?”
