Egypt is in Africa – not technically part of the “plains”, yes, but it often shares theological basis with nearby tribal beliefs.
Dziva is the creator Goddess, and her domains include life. The Ankh is the Egyptian symbol of life, and was closely related to many Egyptian gods.
I’d say it’s a bit of a twist on classic mythology, just like the rest of this comic, but it’s also a neat little tie-in for those who know a lot about the mythology of that area
